What is bullnose?

Bullnose is the rounded edge trim that is used to professionally finish a tile installation. Typically bullnose is found on the edge of counter tops, backsplashes, around the outside edges and curbing of a shower, stairs and baseboard. The tile industry sometimes refers to bullnose as batiscopa.

Why does it take three days to complete a glazed bullnose order?

The steps mandatory in producing glazed bullnose are as follows:

Day 1:    Cut and bullnose your field tile to your specification. Since we use machines that require water, the bullnose must dry overnight.

Day 2:    Glaze and load your bullnose in the kilns for firing. A kiln firing cycle is 24 hours.

Day 3:    Unload your bullnose from the kilns and box for shipping.

Why can't I order a factory edge bullnose with a width of less than 3 1/2 inches without an up charge?

The machine American Bullnose Company™ uses to fabricate bullnose is restricted to pieces with a width of 3 1/2 inches or more. All bullnose generated with a width smaller than 3 1/2 inches needs to be profiled by hand.

Do you paint the bullnose edge?

No! All our ceramic and glazed porcelain bullnose is glazed and kiln fired for a long lasting beauty and finish.

Can I order several different colors of bullnose to satisfy the minimum order requirements?

Because glaze matching is a time consuming process, each color and/or size of bullnose will be priced as a separate order.

Why does a full size glazed bullnose cost more than a bullnose that has to be cut?

Although full size bullnose requires less time to prepare for glazing and firing, kiln capacity decreases up to 95%.
